What to expect in therapy?

Assessment & Formulation

Our first meeting will typically focus on assessment and formulation—understanding the root causes and nature of the challenges you're facing. During this session, I will gather a detailed history of your background and significant life events. For more complex or long-standing issues, an additional session may be needed to complete the assessment.

The assessment session is usually longer than a standard therapy session. In a safe and open environment, we will work together to develop a shared understanding of your difficulties and create a tailored treatment plan that suits your needs.

Treatment

If you choose to proceed with a recommended treatment plan, we will first agree on the number of sessions, their frequency, and when we will review your progress. Each session typically lasts around 50 minutes.

My aim is to create a collaborative and engaging therapy experience. In a compassionate, non-judgmental space, you will have the opportunity to explore and reflect on your thoughts and feelings, as well as the changes you wish to make and the steps needed to achieve them. Everyone is unique, so are their experiences. Hence I integrate different psychological models to tailor the therapy to your individual needs.

Joint sessions

In some cases, it may be helpful for me to gather information from your family or close ones to gain a more comprehensive understanding of your struggles and needs. Their support could also play a positive role in your journey toward mental well-being. I may suggest inviting your family or close ones to join a session.

However, this joint session will only take place with your consent. We will agree beforehand on what information you feel comfortable sharing or prefer to keep private during their involvement.
